How do I set up Internet Optimiser to prioritise gaming or work?

By default, Internet Optimiser will prioritise games it recognises. These optional steps are suggested for serious gamers wanting to get the most out of Internet Optimiser.

From the Internet Optimiser dashboard of your modem:

1. Select Network Priority from the menu
2. Start the tour for a quick walk through of the Network Priority options
3. Scroll down to Prioritised Traffic and ensure that Prioritise Gaming is toggled on
4. Go to Congestion Control. We suggest serious gamers try setting the Upload and Download sliders between 70-85%. 
    

Setting this to 80% means 20% of your connection will be reserved for priority gaming traffic to flow through unhindered by other usage in the house. Having Auto Mode toggled to the recommended Enabled setting means the 20% will only be reserved when your gaming is detected.

While playing, you’ll see an Activity Detected indicator in the Internet Optimiser dashboard, and supported games will show a network graph of your in-game ping.
 

Detecting your console

If you’re gaming from a console, check Device Manager within the Internet Optimiser dashboard of your modem.

If you don’t recognise your console in the list, you can use the IP address shown in your console’s system or network settings screen to identify it. Select the console to set a recognisable name for it.
 

Use Geo-Filtering for lobby or match-making games

This is an optional step for games that don’t use a server browser and dictate where you play.  Geo-Filter allows you to filter out game servers based on where they are in the world, so you can stay local or deliberately play afar.

From the Internet Optimiser dashboard of your modem:

1. Select Geo-Filter from the menu
2. Start the tour for a quick walk through of the Geo-Filter options
3. If you hadn’t already, set your home region by tapping the house icon and searching or tapping the map. The circle shown is the region your game will be allowed to connect to servers in. Use the slider to change the size of the region
4. Select Add Device and choose your gaming device. If you’re gaming from a console, change the Filtering Mode to Choose Manually, and turn Filtering Mode on in the next screen
5. Choose your game or game engine from the list and Use Recommended Settings. Check back later if your game isn’t listed yet, we try to keep it updated regularly.
    

When you open your game lobby, you should begin to see servers inside and outside your chosen region. Connections will be allowed to servers inside the region.
