What is ConnectID?
ConnectID is a new, secure way to verify your identity when activating your Pre-Paid SIM. It removes the need for providing your ID details as it uses participating banks who have already verified your identity and identity documents.
How does ConnectID work?
When activating a Pre-Paid SIM, you can choose to verify your identity using ConnectID. ConnectID links you directly to your bank and with your consent, your bank will confirm your full name and date of birth. You’ll always get to review your personal information before it’s shared with us.
Using ConnectID
ConnectID is available for online Pre-Paid SIM activations.
To use ConnectID, you’ll need:
- an active account with a participating financial institution
- the latest version of your banking app installed on your mobile device
- a Pre-Paid service with Telstra.
Yes, you may use any bank that is listed. Once you select a participating bank, you will be directed to your banking app as part of the verification process.
Troubleshooting
New banks and other data providers of digital identity will be rolled out soon.
If your bank is not listed, you will be unable to use ConnectID, however you can select the manual verification option so that we can verify against your driver licence, passport or other supported verifiable documents using online document verification services accepted forms of ID.
Try the following:
- Try again later as the system could be down
- If you bank with multiple participating banks, select a different bank. There may be an issue with your preferred bank
- Verify by using our manual verification process.
Identity verification at Telstra
Identity verification is our way of confirming you are who you say you are. We must verify your identity for you to set up an account with Telstra, or to activate a Pre-Paid service.
- In store: present your ID documents in-store
- Online: we'll verify your identity online during order processing
- ConnectID: if you’re activating a new Pre-Paid service, we can confirm your identity with your bank using ConnectID.

No. Telstra does not have access to any information via ConnectID beyond full name, address, date of birth, email address or phone number.
No. ConnectID does not collect or store personal information at any time, it’s just the bridge that connects the bank and Telstra when you authorise it.
