Frequently asked questions
Tap to Pay on Android requires any Android device that is Near Field Communication enabled and running on operating system Android 9 or higher.
Yes, Tap to Pay on Android and the Tyro BYO App allow payment service providers to enable PIN-based transactions on compatible Android devices.
After the customer taps their card, Tap to Pay on Android via the Tyro BYO App prompts the customer to enter their PIN using Android’s secure PIN entry interface.
When you transact via Tap to Pay on Android with the Tyro BYO App, you can accept payments from the following card types:
- Mastercard®
- Visa
- eftpos
- American Express.
You can also accept payments from the following digital wallets:
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Samsung Pay digital wallets.
Your payments are processed by Tyro before being deposited into the settlement account nominated during your Tyro application.
Same day settlements are only available when takings are deposited into a Tyro Bank Account. You can choose from settlement times between 8pm to 5am. This timeframe excludes Alipay, HealthPoint and funds settled directly by Afterpay, American Express and JCB.
If you nominate a non-Tyro bank account, funds will be processed on the next business day. Depending on your banking provider, it may take up to 3 business days to receive funds.
The following offer is currently available to Telstra referred customers who acquire an eligible Tyro EFTPOS solution on a simple pricing structure from Tyro Payments Limited (ABN 49 103 575 042) (Tyro)
- 1.4% (incl. GST) transaction fee
- $15,000 worth of fee-free transactions
The Offer only applies once per new Tyro customer but does not apply to eCommerce transactions. The Offer and terminal rental (if relevant) are subject to your reasonable use, and your use will be deemed unreasonable by Tyro in its absolute discretion if it is (a) contrary to the way that the Offer was intended to be used or (b) otherwise unacceptable.
The Fee is subject to change in accordance with the Tyro Terms & Conditions and excludes MOTO fees. Diners Club cards not an accepted payment method. Additional fees and charges apply as set out in the Tyro Application Form and Terms & Conditions.
Tyro and Telstra reserve the right to withdraw or extend this Offer at any time, at their discretion. If the Offer is withdrawn, the Offer will be honoured in respect of all fully completed applications received by Tyro from Telstra customers before the Offer is withdrawn.

Tyro Go EFTPOS reader
Tyro Go EFTPOS reader requires a Bluetooth-enabled mobile device or tablet, the Tyro Go App to be installed, and mobile network coverage. Check Google Play & App Store for the latest OS compatibility requirements.
Tap to Pay with the Tyro BYO App
For Apple devices
Tap to Pay on iPhone requires iPhone XS or later running iOS 16.4 or later via the Tyro BYO App. Some contactless cards may not be accepted by the Tyro BYO App. The Contactless Symbol is a trademark owned by and used with permission of EMVCo, LLC. For Android devices
Android devices will need to be Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled and running on operating system Android 9 or higher. Android and Google Pay are trademarks of Google LLC.
The Tyro BYO App requires mobile connectivity for use.
Tyro Pro
Tyro Pro requires a Wi-Fi connection or mobile network coverage for use. A monthly rental fee applies (currently $29 per month) and is subject to change.
